Welcome to the DSP Lab website
The Digital Signal Processing Laboratory (DSP Lab) is located at the DYNATECH department of the University of Genova (UniGe).
The main scientific reference of the research carried out in the DSP Lab concerns:
- Signal Processing over Smart Devices (i.e. smartphones)
- Audio and Radio Signal Processing
- Situation-Aware Safety and E-health applications
- Resource Allocation and Management for Satellite Communication Systems
- Logistic and Transport Communications
The laboratory owns: several signal processing components such as spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes, Cricket ultrasonic sensors, Symbian and Android smartphones.
"When the FFT hit, then there was a big explosion, because then you could see that by using a computer you could do some things incredibly efficiently. You could start thinking about doing things in real time. You could think of it as the difference between BC and AD. The birth of the FFT was a very significant event."
Alan Oppenheim, an oral history conducted in 1997 by Andrew Goldstein, IEEE History Center, New Brunswick, NJ, USA.
